James Earl Wood, 20, of 716 East Prospect Avenue, Harrison, died Monday, April 9, at Washington Regional Hospital, Fayetteville, from injuries he received in a motorcycle accident that occured Monday, April 2, on US 62-65 truck route with its intesection with Spruce Street. This is the city's first fatality of the year.
Wood was transferred to Washington Regional Hospital from Boone County Hospital following the collision of a motorcycle he was riding and a 1979 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Raleigh May, 30, of Harriseon.
Police investigating the accident said the truck was making a left turn onto Spruce Street from the truck route when it was struck on the right side by the motorcycle. No citations were issued following the accident.
James Earl Wood was born Nov 9, 1958, in Mt. View, MO, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wallace Wood.
Survivors include his parents; a brother John Wallace Wood, Jr., Bartlesville, OK; two sisters Brenda Kaye Smith, Bartlesville, OK, Anna Faye Cooper, Grove, OK; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Bramlett, Mt. Home; two nephews and a niece.
Services were held at 10AM Thursday, April 12, at Heritage Chapel, La Fevers Colonial Funeral Home in Mt. Home. Burial was in galatia Cemetery in Norfork.
