Son of Henry Gideon and Wilma Gertrude Payne Wood.
Married Nina Sue Berry on June 19, 1938, at Norfork, Arkansas.

Service for Howard K. Wood of Salesville will be at 2PM Thursday at Old Galatia Church with the Rev. Dennis Ives officiating. Mr. Wood died Monday (Jan 15, 1996) at Calico Rock Medical Center. He was 78.
Visitation will be from 9AM to 9PM today at Roller Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends 6-9PM. Burial will be at Galatia Cemetery with Masonic graveside services by Adams Masonic Lodge 164 F&AM. Pallbearers will be Darren Rouse, Todd Rouse, Chad Wood, Daniel Wood, Michael Wood, Craig Washam and Cory Washam.
Mr. Wood was a retired construction worker who worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers for 18 years and helped build the Norfork Dam. He was also a farmer.
A lifetime area resident, Mr. Wood was born Aug 4, 1917, at Old Joe, a son of the late Henry G. and Gertrude Payne Wood. He and the former Nina Sue Berry were married Jun 19, 1938, at Norfork. Mr. Wood was a member of the Norfork United Methodist Church, Adams Masonic Lodge 164 and Royal Arch Masons of Mt. Home. He was a US Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Nina Sue Wood of the home; two sons, Kenneth E. Wood of Springfield, MO and Cecil E. Wood of Mt. Home; two daughters, Eileen Rouse and Deborah Washam both of Mammoth Spring; three sisters, Fannie Mathis of Spingfield, MO, Ruth Bowers of Yakima, WA and Joyce Bedlington of Spokane, WA; 11 grandchildren; eitht great grand children; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was precede in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.
