Services for Louis A. Knight of Gassville will be at 10AM Friday at Kirby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lynn McClure and Jeff Quick officiating. Mr. Knight died Wednesday (August 5, 1998) at his residence. He was 75.
Mr. Knight was born March 15, 1923, at Buford, to Marshall W. and Argie Jordan Knight. He married the former Margie Casteel Feb 14, 1942, at Mt. Home. A lifetime resident of Gassville, he was retired from radiator repair work. He served in the US Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church; founder of Ozark Quartet; former member of Masonic Lodge; Methodist lay speaker; and chairman of Fairview Cemetery Committee.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Knight, of Gassville; two sons, Bob Knight and wife, Sue and Tommy Knight and wife, Brenda, all of Mt. Home; two daughters, Beverly Quick and Betty Luther and husband, John, all of Mt. Home; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Claudie Knight of Mt. Home and Jimmy Knight of Gassville; five sisters, Erma Lee McCracken of Cotter and Lou Loving, Bessie Henderson and Nancy Crawford, all of Mt. Home, and Jessie Flippin of Fairview; several nieces and nephews including Niel Knight and wife Linda of Mt. Home, Lynn Knight and wife, Janice, and Gordon Knight and wife Beth, both of Anchorage, Alaska, who were raised by Mr. and Mrs. Knight.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one nephew, Wilford Knight, who was raised by Mr. and Mrs. Knight.
Visitation will be from noon to 8PM today at Kirby Funeral Home Chapel with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8PM.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joey Crawford, Garry Duggins, Marcus Flippin, T.J. Henderson, Randy Hopper, Shawn Loving and Dick House. Honorary pallbearers will be Garold Flock, Donald R. Bailey, Larry Colburn, Everett Roth, David Barker, Lyle House and Lloyd Ellsworth.
Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral Directors. Kirby and Family and the US Forest Service have provided for the planting of a tree as a living memorial and tribute to Mr. Knight.
Memorials may be made to Fairview Methodist Church and Hospice of the Ozarks.
