Revenue Office Clerk Dies
Benton County's state revenue clerk for the past 16 yars died suddenly Wednesday evening.
James Radus Rice, 72, of Rt. 1, Garfield, near Brightwater, was pronounced dead on arival at Rogers Memorial Hospital following a heart attack during a Masonic Lodge meeting in Brightwater.
He was born July, 12, 1899, in Pea Ridge and was a member of the Brightwater Methodist Church. He was a native of Northwest Arkansas.
Active in Masonic Lodge activities for many years, he was a member of the Pea Ridge Masonic Lodge No. 119, F&AM, and the Western Arkansas Consistory Valley of Fort Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Stella Mae Rice, Rt. 1, Garfield, and two brothers, Walter B. Rice, Springfield, Mo., and Harry Rice, Jennings, Kan.
Funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Brightwater Mehodist Church with the Rev. Harvey Hazelwood officiating. Burial will be in the Buttram Chapel Cemetery following a Masonic graveside service. Arrangements are under the direction of Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge.
