Funeral for Attorney C.M. Rice Held Today
Funeral service for Charles M. Rice, 80, widely known veteran Bentonville lawyer who died Tuesday night, was held Thursday at Bentonville.
He was born in Riceville, McMinn county, Tennessee, but his parents, Charles W. and Juliet Cobb Rice, came to Benton County before the War Between the States. He was reared at the family homestead on Pea Ridge and was one of 13 children, all identified with Benton county affairs. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan law school an had practiced law here since 1888.
He is survived by his wife; four sons, R., Jeff and Paul of Bentonville and Phillip Rice, professor of electrical engineering at State College, Pa.; a daughter, Miss Ethel Rice of Oklahoma City, and two brothers, Tim S. of Rogers and W.C. Rice of Huntsville.
