James S. Hayes, 78 years old, was fatally injured early Friday morning when the car in which he was riding with his daughter, Mrs. R. L. West, collided with the back of a truck near Clinton, Okla. They were en-route to California. Mrs. West received treatment in a Clinton hospital.
Funeral service for Mr. Hayes was held Monday at the Word schoolhouse with burial in Word cemetery near Decatur. He had been a lifelong resident of the Gentry-Decatur vicinity.
Survivors are five sons, Ed, Siloam Springs, Mart and Joe of California, Warren, Oklahoma City, and Jess of Decatur; two daughters, Mrs. J. B. Sullivan of Buena Park, Calif., and Mrs. R. L. West, Oklahoma City; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister.
