Mr. Hayes was born Nov. 1st, 1860, in DeKalb County, Tenn., and was a son of John H. and Tilda Park Hayes, both his parents having also been born in that same county. He was brought to Northwest Arkansas by his parents in 1866 when they settled three miles from Harrison in Boone County. He and his wife had lived in and near Bentonville the past few years.

Besides his wife, Mrs. Emily Hayes he is survived by three grandsons, Ray, Guy and J.B. Thomason, all of Coffeyville, Kansas. They are the sons of a daughter who died some years ago. He also is survived by one nephew, J.E. Hayes of Bentonville, who is employed at the Perry Eat Shop. There also is a step-daughter, Mrs. Marion Garrison, formerly of Bentonville and now of Sallisaw, Okla. She and his grandson, Guy Thomason, were here for the funeral.
