Ross A. Cox, 86, a retired farmer, died Feb. 7 at the home of his daughter at 206 SE 6th, Bentonville.
He was born May 18, 1889 near La Rue, the son of Henry L. and Mary Ellen Moffitt Cox, early Northwest Arkansas pioneers. He was reared near La Rue, attended rural schools and farmed there until he moved to Fayetteville 10 years ago. In Ocober, 1975, he moved to Bentonville to live with his daughter.
He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Eual and Kenneth Cox, Rogers, and Wilburn Cox, Lamar, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Garrison, Bentonville, and Mrs. Lillie Boydstun, Santa Maria, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Burns Funeral Chapel, Bentonville, with Rev. Ray Garrison officiating. Burial will be in Martin Cemetery at La Rue under direction of Burns.

COX, Bessie - Mrs. Bessie Cox, aged about 35, died Thursday at her home in the LaRue community following a long illness. Funeral service was held Friday afternoon at 2:30 with burial at LaRue. Arrangements are in charge of J.W. Bryant. Mrs. Cox, who had lived in Benton county all her life, is survived by her husband, Ross D. Cox, and several children.
