Edward Monroe Cox, 80, of Chelsea, Oklahoma, died February 6, 2012, at St. John’s Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born May 4, 1931 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma, he was the son of George Adelbert Cox and Bessie Rebecca Cradduck Cox. He was a machinist for Production Manufacturing Company and Slim Haney Machining, both in Tulsa, for many years. Edward married Bettye Lou Acuff in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 23, 1955.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, George Adelbert Cox, Jr., and Kenneth Lee Cox.

Survivors include two sisters, Patricia Anderson of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Shirley Rapier of Newport News, Virginia; one brother, David Cox of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and three sisters-in-law, Edith Cox of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dorothy Dickey of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Peggy LaValley of Chelsea, Oklahoma who made it possible for Ed to live alone in his final years by faithfully looking in on him and seeing that his needs were met. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, all of whose lives have been enriched by the attention given to them by Ed and Bettye.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2012 at Maysville Missionary Baptist Church, Maysville, Arkansas with Jack Netherton officiating. Burial will be at Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time Friday, February 10, 2012 at Maysville Missionary Baptist Church. In lieu of sending flowers the family requests that donations be made to Happy Hands Early Education Center, Inc., 8801 S. Garnett Road, Broken Arrow, OK 74012 or to TSHA, Total Source for Hearing-loss and Access, 8740 E. 11th Street, Tulsa, OK 74112.

TULSA, Okla. — Bettye Lou Acuff Cox, 74, of Tulsa died Oct. 24, 2004, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was born March 26, 1930, in Maysville to Leslie and Virginia Long Acuff. She was a graduate of Siloam Springs High Scbool.

Survivors include her husband, Edward M. Cox, to whom she was married in 1955; two sisters, Dorothy Dickey and husband Ken of Tulsa and Peggy LaValley and husband Larry of Chelsea, Okla.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Maysville Baptist Church with Jack Netherton officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.
