GEORGE C. BLAND
George C. Bland, 82, 1010 W. Poplar St., Rogers, died Oct. 15 in Rogers Memorial Hospital. Born Jan. 20, 1893, in Benton County, he was the son of Samuel and Katherine Tucker Bland and a lifetime resident of the area. He was reared on a farm near Larue and was retired farmer, a member of Freedom Free Will Baptist Church and the Brightwater Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mae Lee Bland of the home; two sons, E.A. (Pete) Bland, Rogers, and Clyde Bland, Tracy, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Veda Keck, Mrs. Mary Anderson, Mrs. Wilma Townzen and Mrs. Martha A. Wierick all of Rogers; one brother, Lonnie Bland, Brightwater; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Head, Bentonville, and Mrs. Jewell Dye, Garfield; 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Burns Chapel, Rogers, with the Rev. Bruce Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Ruddick Cemetery under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Rogers. Visitation hours are today from 4-9 p.m. in Burns Chapel.
