Loyd John McGinty, 86, of Greenbrier, passed away Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 at Conway Regional Medical Center. He was born on April 9th, 1921 in McGintytown to the late Joseph Henry and Frances Della (Freeman) McGinty. He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother, another infant brother, Joseph Guy McGinty, an infant sister, Nancy Joy McGinty, a sister, Bronnie (Cardin) Garrison, two brothers, Ralph Thomas McGinty and Mark Elburn McGinty; two grandsons, Ronnie Lynn McGinty and Joseph Guy Jones, and his loving wife of 64 years, Benoni (Weaver) McGinty.

He is survived by ten children and their spouses: Aline and Roger Jones, Randy and Diane McGinty, and Rick and Sherry McGinty of Greenbrier; Sandy Williams, Nancy and Larry Ringgold, and Glenda and Wallace Bonner of Conway; JoAnn and David Meachum and Ron and Judy McGinty of Little Rock; Maudie and Charlie Wilkins of Sherwood, and Peggy and James Hixson of Paris, 25 grandchildren: Jennifer Leggitt, Jonathan Jones, Wallace Bonner Jr., Frances Bonner, Kristi Blaschke, Holly Weibl, Jodi Alden, Kelli Johnson, Staci Whaley, Amanda Odom, David and JoBeth McGinty, Brian, Brad, and Brent Meachum, Michael, Meagan, and Mikala McGinty, Gary Ringgold, Alicia Isom, Chris McGinty, Ethan and Orrin Cardin, and Josh and Sarah Williams, 27 great-grandchildren, and 3 step great-grandchildren, one sister, Freeda Popp of Clinton, two brothers, Sherril (Bach) McGinty of Holland and Paul McGinty of McGintytown, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Loyd served in the US Navy as a seaman in 1944. He worked for 30 years for Virco Manufacturing Corp in Conway as a machinist for the tool and die department. Loyd was extremely proud of his family and given the slightest opportunity would tell you all about them. Neighbors all around could hear the sounds of his whistling as he went about his daily chores driving the tractor to take care of his cattle or to work in his garden. Early in life he played in a band, singing and playing his guitar. His love for music continued throughout his lifetime as he enjoyed just getting his guitar and singing his heart out.

Pallbearers were Johnny Cardin, David Cardin, Donnie Ray Barnett, Philip Weaver, Paul McGinty Jr., and Terry Cardin. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren.
