Zelpha Dickerson, Jordan life resident
Zelpha S. Dickerson, 78, of Jordan died May 23 at The Calico Rock Medical Center. A lifetime resident of Calico Rock, she was a housewife, the wife of George Dickerson.
Mrs. Dickerson was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She was born April 10, 1909, at Calico Rock to Polly Ann (Loosey) and Arlie Hearn. She was married in 1943 at Mountain Home.
Survivors are her husband of home, two sons, Mike of Midway and Carl of Norfork, daughters, Mayme Parnell and Retha Teegarden of Jordan, Cleota Johnson of Mountain Home, Edna Greet of Norfork, Velma Wiggins, Georgia and Kathy Dickerson of Texas, a brother Harlan Loosey of Grubbs, 25 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Dickerson was preceded in death by her first husband, three sons, a brother and three sisters.
The funeral was Tuesday at the Old Galatia Church with the Rev. Jack Langston officiating. Burial was at Galatia Cemetery. Pallbearers were Nole 'Shory' Teegarden, Ed Teegarden, Michael Dickerson, Bobby Parnell, George Clark and Frank Tilley. Honorary pallbearers were Carl Dickerson, Pete Woodcock, Robert Skidmore, and Louis Harris.
Arrangements were by Roller Funeral Home.
[Note: A descendant of George W. & Zelpha S. Loosey has indicated that the obituary for Zelpha S. Dickerson has her mother's maiden name and her father's surname reversed. As such, she was the daughter of Polly Ann Hearn (sometimes recorded as Herron) and Arlie Loosey.]
