Joe Charles Williams, 16, a former resident of El Dorado, drowned August 5 in Fort Bragg, Calif. Born in Union County, July 2, 1955, he was the son of Mrs. Elnora Brown. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, San Francisco, Calif. Survivors include his mother of San Francisco; two sisters, Miss Tecommie Hicks and Miss Francile Brown, both of San Francisco; two brothers, Rickey Hicks and Robert Roland Hicks, both of San Francisco and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lucille Leslie, and step grandfather, William Leslie of El Dorado. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Union Mission Baptist Church with the Rev. G. E. McElroy officiating. Burial will follow in Community Cemetery at Junction City under the direction of Sims Mortuary. (El Dorado Times - August 13, 1971)
