September 15, 1901 - January 25, 1968
Lloyd (Sugarfoot) Williams of Benton, died Thursday morning in a Benton Hospital. Born Sept. 15, 1901 at Old Hillsboro, Union County, he was the son of Horatio Gates and Lena Heard Williams. A former resident of El Dorado, he was also a former showman with the Lesses-White and other minstrels and Ringling Brothers Circus. He later served as deputy tax assessor of Union County and was a member of the First Baptist Church of El Dorado and of the Rialto Theater Men's Bible Class. Survivors include a son, Lloyd D. Williams, Jr, of Corpus Christi, Tex.; two brothers, Heard Williams and Dr. Ralph C. Williams, both of El Dorado and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Young's Chapel with Dr. Don B. Harbuck officiating, assisted by Rev. J. Rayford McLean. Interment will follow in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Young's. Pallbearers will be Isaac Wilson, Henry Fernald, Sam E. Babb, W. Shannon Goodwin, Thomas Reeves and Harold Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Theater Bible Class of the First Baptist Church. The family will be at the Heard Williams residence 1001 Euclid Ave. (El Dorado Times - January 26, 1968)
