Sammie Lee Brown was born to George Brown and Zella Keys on August 27, 1933, and passed from this life on December 6, 2021, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Sammie was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and attended George X Oliver School. He later moved to Kansas City, Missouri, for a better life and worked for the Kansas City Star Newspaper for over thirty years. He attended the church of Christ under Brother Martin Thomas and was there until moving to Smackover, Arkansas, in 2019. Sammie loved reading and learning and enjoyed talking to anyone he could learn from. He will be sorely missed by friends and forever remembered for his smile.
He is preceded in death by his father, George Brown, Mother Zella Keys, seven brothers, Leroy Brown, Eddie Brown, Nathan Brown, Nathanial Brown, Willie B. Brown, Hubert Brown, Tealie Brown, and one sister Lizzie Noah. Three children Curtice Brown, Sammie Brown Jr., and Critty Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Mandy Brown of Smackover, Arkansas, and two Sisters Ella May Cathren, and Bernice Jones. His son Billy Brown of California, and one daughter Chris Shawn Brown of Georgia. And Many Grandchildren.
