Harvey DeWitt Brown, 59, of Rt. 3, El Dorado, died Thursday morning in a local hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. Brown was born Aug. 31, 1905 in Sikes, La., and was the son of Simm and Izoria Robert Brown. Mr. Brown was a welder for Lion Refinery. He had been a resident of the El Dorado area since 1931 and was a member of the Quinn Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Delcena (Del) Brown of El Dorado; a son, Charles E. Brown of El Dorado, three stepsons, Dr. James W. Hawley of Camden, Curtis Hawley of Laurel, Miss, and Dr. Harold Hawley of Little Rock; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Ervin Brown of Columbia, Miss., and Dennis Brown of Calion; four sisters, Mrs. Rosa Brumley of Quitman, La., Mrs. Nettie Erskine of Calion, Mrs. Della Calhoun of Monroe, La., and Mrs. Della Welch of Little Rock. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Quinn Methodist Church with the Rev. Ralph Mann officiating, assisted by the Rev. John W. Rushing. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Young's. Pallbearers will be Henry Epps, Bobby Turberville, Gordon Deckard, Clarence Douthitt, H. L. Mysenhimer and Robert Pyle. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the medical profession in Union County, all employes of the Lion Refinery, J. Q. Brown, Garland Adams and Leo Harper. The family will be at the H. W. Erskine residence in Calion where the body was taken at 4 p.m. Thursday. (The El Dorado Times - January 2, 1965)
