When Jacob Marion Flowers was born on June 11, 1867, in Arkansas, his father, Henry, was 18 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 15. He married Sarah Velie Polk on January 31, 1889. They had four children in 15 years. He died on February 4, 1940, at the age of 72, and was buried in Center Ridge, Arkansas.
