Rogers man dies following accident

J.E. Ford, 75, of Rogers was injured in a three-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon It the intersection of Highway 71 south and New Hope Road in Rogers. He later died at Rogers Memorial Hospital; however, it was not revealed if his death was due to, injuries sustained in the accident.

In a statement obtained shortly after the accident, Ford told police that he was headed north on 71 in the inside lane approaching the intersection when he saw a car ahead of him. He told police he hit his brakes, causing him to hit his head in the car and possibly black out. The Ford vehicle then struck a pick-up truck driven by Michael A. Howard, 26, of Rogers, which in turn struck a car driven by Roy R. Davis, 45, of Springdale. Howard and Davis were not injured.

J.E. Ford, 75, of Rogers died Tuesday at Rogers Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 5, 1902 at Hot Springs.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rogers, the Rogers Rotary Club and was a 50-year Mason of the Rogers Masonic Lodge. He was president and chairman of the board of First Federal Savings and Loan of Rogers and a partner in Tucker Abstract Co. of Rogers.

He is survived by his wife Wanda of the home; two sons, James E. Ford and Harold Gene Ford, both of Rogers; two brothers, Henry Ford of Ashdown and Carl Ford of Hot Springs; two sisters, Lilly Dwinell of Louisville, Ky. and Bertha Abel of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Callison Funeral Home of Rogers.
