WOODS, Charlie R. - Last Saturday about dark Charlie R. Woods, son of Mr. Jas. Woods, living near Seba, was found dead in his brother John's horse lot. The deceased was an idiot and visited around with his brothers most of the time. Saturday he had been staying all day with his brother Willie who lived near and started home early in the afternoon saying he believed he would go by Johnnie's (another brother) and see him awhile before he went home. He was not seen at the latter's house until he was found as above stated. A coroner's inquest was held and a verdict of death from natural causes rendered but afterwards Johnnie Woods remembered some strychnine that he kept in the barn to kill rats. He went to look for it but it was gone. The bottle was afterwards found down stairs in the manger and there is little doubt but that the poor boy got out the poison and took a dose not knowing but what it was quinine as he had taken a great deal of that medicine in his life. After taking the poison Charley went to the cistern and got a drink and got only a few steps from there till he died. This is sad and we sympathize with the bereaved ones . The deceased was about 20 years old. The remains were interred in the Woods burying ground east of the city Monday, Rev. D.C. Boggs officiating.
