WOOD, Ottis - Last Saturday night a sad accident happened near Bloomfield which resulted in the death of one Ottis Wood, a stock dealer, who was living with his aunt, Mrs. S.J. Dickson. He had been to attend a social singing at Mrs. Thomas' residence, one and a half miles northwest of Bloomfield. He was last seen alive at 11:30 Saturday night making his way homeward. The next morning a dead man was found by two little boys. The corpse proved to be that of poor Ottis Wood. From all that could be learned or surmised it seems that the dead man's horse became unruly and in jumping from one side of the road to the other missed a little pole bridge spanning a ravine, throwing his rider over his head which broke the poor fellow's neck and crushed in his forehead. This is a deplorable accident and we sympathize with the bereaved relatives of the dead young man.
