Steve Blankenship son of the late Riley Blankenship and Augusta Copeland Blankenship, was born August 31, 1934 in Newburg, Arkansas. He departed this life on October 3, 2011 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 2 days.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn Mason on April 9, 1960 in Kansas City, Missouri and to this union two children were born. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Steve spent his life as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and provider. He was a retired employee of Sentinel Industries of Calico Rock. He was a born again Christian.
Steve is survived by his wife of 51 years: Evelyn Blankenship of the home; one son and daughter-in-law; David and Jennifer Blankenship of Mt. Olive, Arkansas; one daughter and son-in-law; Tamra and Mickey Bevill of Gorby; one sister, Lucille Linn of Melbourne; six grandchildren, Megan and Annie Blankenship and Rylie, Rachel, Gabriel and Eliza Bevill; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Fern Wheeler and Eva Nell Nugent.
A graveside funeral service was held Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. on the banks of Piney Creek at Palestine Cemetery in Gorby, Arkansas. Jeff Sanders officiated and arrangements made by Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock.
