MELBOURNE — Edward Turner "Ed" Billingsley, 81, of Melbourne died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, in Melbourne.
Born in Franklin in 1929, he was the son of W.E. "Wid" and Hazel Billingsley. He graduated from Melbourne High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was the postmaster in Melbourne for 28 years and lived most of his life in Izard County. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and a past member of the Melbourne Lodge and Lions Club and was a Shriner.
Survivors include a sister, Frances James of San Leandro, Calif.; a daughter, Leah Billingsley of Austin, Texas; six stepchildren, Christopher Difloe of Ash Flat, Judith James of Austin, John James of Flippin, Wendy Wheeler of Houston, Steve Wheeler of Melbourne and Nancy Valencia of Los Angeles; seven step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 37 years, Geraldine Billingsley; and a sister, Katharine Lawrence.
