Garfield Thomas Brown, son of the late William B. and Maggie Woody Brown, was born November 10, 1911, in Herpel. He died January 25, 2000, in Calico Rock, AR, He was 88.

Mr. Brown was united in marriage to Ota Elzora Gillihan March 24, 1934, in Herpel. To this union, four children were born.

During his working years, Mr. Brown worked as a carpenter. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Herpel.

Survivors include his wife, Elzora Brown of Melbourne; three daughters, Imogene James of Cave City; Jeralene Love of Melbourne; and Mary Wheelis of Jonesboro; one son, Gary Brown of Springfield, MO; two sisters, Annie Sanders and Opal Ledford of Washington; eight grandchildren, Nathan Love, Alan Love, Lesa Brown, Janey McFadden, Jeremy Wheelis, Joshua Wheelis, Dustin Brown, and Jared Brown; seven great grandchildren, Tamara Love, Anthony Love, Derek Love, Drew Love, Jameson McFadden, Joseph McFadden, and Jonathan Wheelis; and a host of many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Blondie Gillihan; two brothers, Estus and Nathan Brown; one grandson; and one great-grandson. Funeral services were held January 28, 2000, at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne.

Pallbearers were David Gillihan, Phillip Gillihan, Michael Gillihan, Dennis Gillihan, Roger Gillihan, and Mitchell Gillihan.

Honorary pallbearers were; Lloyd Nesbitt, Kenneth Gillihan, Jeffie Gillihan, Boyce Gillihan, Cleveland Blankenship, and Freddie Shrable. Interment was at Combs Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Melbourne Times, Melbourne, AR

Ota Elzora Gillihan Brown, daughter of the late Eler and Janie Neal Gillihan, was born on April 24, 1914 at Twin Creek, AR. She departed this life on November 24, 2000 in Melbourne, AR at the age of 86 years, 7 months, and 9 days.

She was united in marriage to Garfield Brown on March 24, 1934 in Herpel, AR. To this union, four children were born.

Elzora spent her life as a wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a member of the Twin Creek Church of Christ and the Extension Homemakers Club.

Elzora leaves to mourn her passing; three daughters and sons-in-law: Imogene and Leeman James of Cave City, Jeralene and Dewey Love of Melbourne, and Mary and Bob Wheelis of Jonesboro; one son and daughter-in-law: Gary and Marla Brown of Springfield, MO; two brothers: Kenneth Gillihan of Melbourne and Jeffie Gillihan of Melbourne; eight grandchildren: Nathan and Alan Love; Lesa, Dustin, and Jared Brown; Janey McFadden, Jeremy and Joshua Wheels; seven great grandchildren: Tamra, Anthony, Derek and Drew Love, Jameson and Joseph McFadden and Jonathan Wheelis, and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, Rusaw, Oris, Rufus, and an infant brother; three sisters, one grandson and one great grandson.

Funeral services were Monday, November 27, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Jamey McFadden and Steve Stevenson officiating.

Burial was at Combs Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation was Sunday, November 26, 2000 from 4-6 p.m.

Pallbearers: David Gillihan, Freddie Shrable, Michael Gillihan, Jerry Ward, Roger Gillihan and Mitchell Gillihan.

Honorary Pallbearers: Cleveland Blankenship Boyce Gillihan, Donald Gillihan and David Love.
