John Miller Brown, son of the late Green Miller Brown and Samantha Mae Stonecipher Brown, was born December 27, 1946 in Sage, Arkansas. He departed this life September 15, 2014 at his home in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 19 days. He was united in marriage to Delores Stroud December 10, 1966 in Sage, Arkansas and to this union two sons were born. John was a commercial and residential builder. He learned his trade from his father and passed his knowledge on to his sons. John was a licensed contractor and owner of John Brown Construction. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Sage Baptist Church. John is survived by his wife of 47 years: Delores Brown of the home; two sons and two daughters-in-law: Chris and Kelly Brown of Mt. Pleasant and Chad and Arlene Brown of Sage; three sisters: Laberta Gerber (George) of Cave City, Virginia Reddick (Mike) of Kilgore, Texas and Nancy Burgess (Mike) of Sage; four grandchildren: Kirstin Brown, Spydyr Brown, Autumn Wagoner (Drew) and Michael Brown (Misty); three great grandchildren: Case Wagoner, Lainey Wagoner and Carter Brown and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Carrie Langston.
Funeral service will be Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Howard Memorial Funeral Chapel in Melbourne with Doyne Robertson officiating. Burial will be at Caney Springs Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 17 from 6-8 p.m.
Pallbearers: Roy Gillihan, Gary Desalvo, Junior Caraway, Larry Sartin, Arnie Hutchins and Joe Baker.
Honorary Pallbearers: J. W. Vest, Ray Dover and Calvin Brown.
