Leaman Harris of Calico Rock, son of the late Samual and Mary Alma Cooper Harris, died February 12, 1998 in a local hospital. He was 87.
Mr. Harris was a retired employee of the Arkansas State Forestry Service and a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Charles Harris of Gassville; three daughters, Berna Dean Mays of Pine Bluff, Evelyn Sue Jenkins of Sanger, California and Verna Lee Grice of Melbourne; one brother, Authur Harris of Salem; one sister, Elsie Mason of Calico Rock; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, five step-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Velmar Cantrell Harris; three sons, Cleo, Bernard and Loyal Harris; four brothers, Clay, Austin, Leonard and Perry Harris; and one sister, Bulah Harris.
Services were held February 16, 1998 at Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock with Reverend Jonathan Smith and Reverend Price Lovelace officiating.
Pallbearers were Johnny Harris, Darren Harris, Scott Harris, Phil Mays, Mike Mays, Jimmy Thompson and Todd Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Mason, Charles Harris, Arnold Harris and Alton Rush.
Interment was at Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Crouch Funeral Home in Melbourne.
