Obituary for Arthur Harris:

Arthur Harris, 92, of Salem, Ark., son of the late Samuel D. and Mina (Cooper) Harris, was born May 25, 1916, at Wideman, Ark. He died July 31, 2008, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Ark.

He was united in marriage to Tressie Lee McVey on Feb 19, 1944, at Salem, Ark., and to this union three children were born. He worked with rental properties, served as state representative and was a salesman.

He was a member of the Salem Church of Christ and served his country in the US Army during World War II receiving a Purple Heart.

He is survived by his son, Charles Arthur Harris and wife Lanai of Pensacola, Fla; his daughter, Arlene Humphries of Salem, Ark; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Retha Worsham and her daughter Melissa of Salem.

He was preceded in death by: his wife; his parents; a daughter, Annette Harris; five brothers; two sisters; and a son-in-law, Max Humphries.

Funeral services were held Aug 2 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with Bro. Mike Yates officiating. Burial followed in the Oxford Cemetery at Oxford, Ark., with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.

Pallbearers were Heath Humphries, Lance Humphries, Ross Carter, Joshua Harris, Arnold Harris and Scott Rose.
