EDWARDS, Richard E. - It is with sorrow we announce the death of Richard E. Edwards, which occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.A. Stewart, at Siloam Springs at 8:20 p.m. Sept. 12. He was born in Anderson Co., Tenn. Oct. 7th, 1829. He professed faith in Christ at the age of 18 and united with the church. He emigrated to Missouri in 1850 and moved to Benton county in 1867 where he lived up to the time of his death. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist church at Mason Valley. Mr. Edwards married Miss Nancy Tennal at Knoxville, Tenn. in 1849 and lived a happy married life for more than 60 years. Nine children were born to this union. Since the death of his wife, which occurred more than three years ago, Mr. Edwards lived among his children. He always said he had lots of friends, and he certainly did. We do not know of any one who had more friends than he had. The community, the church, the relatives and friends sustain a loss which cannot be computed this side of eternity. Truly a good man was called from us. He was sick for several weeks with heart trouble and dropsy. One daughter, Mrs. W.A. Stewart, and sons, Will Edwards of Siloam and George and Jim of Mason Valley, are left to mourn the loss of a father. There are also 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. The remains were shipped to Highfill and conveyed to the Mason Valley church and the funeral conducted by Rev. Jones. The remains were tenderly laid to rest in the Barron cemetery. A.F.M.

EDWARDS, Nancy - Death has again entered out midst and taken the much beloved and aged wife of Uncle Dick Edwards, who died at her home near Highfill, Ark. May 23, 1913 at 10:30 p.m. The cause of her death was heart trouble. She took sick Sunday evening and died Friday night, being sick only five days, at the age of 79 years, 6 months and a few days. She was born in the year 1838. She was united in marriage to Richard Edwards in 1849 at Knoxville, Tenn. and lived a happy married life for more than sixty years and was known here and loved for those womanly traits of character which endeared her to a large circle of friends. Nine children were born to this union, two dying in infancy, Julia Ann, aged 4 years, and a tiny little infant only a few days old. Three grown married daughters preceded her several years ago, namely, Mrs. Susie Summers, wife of Columbus Summers; Mrs. Doshia Ketchem, wife of James Ketchem and Mrs. Sallie Hutcheson, wife of Dave Hutcheson. She professed faith in Christ, united with the church in early life and lived a consistent Christian life, being a member of the Mason Valley Baptist church at the time of her death. Mrs. Mollie Steward of Siloam Springs, her only daughter, came to her bedside, nursed and cared for her as only a daughter can. The sons, George and James, of Mason Valley, and William of Siloam Springs, and aged husband, eighty-two years old, are left to mourn the loss of a true wife and mother. There are several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Jones at the Mason Valley Baptist church Sunday at 2 p.m. and the body was tenderly laid to rest in the Barron cemetery to await the resurrection morn.
