EDWARDS, Ella Gertrude NORTON - At 10 o'clock p.m. January 28, 1920 death entered the home of Mrs. N.A. Norton and claimed her dear daughter, Ella. All was done for her that medical skill could do but all of no avail. Kind and willing hands of sweet friends ministered to her needs, yet all in vain. She bore her suffering with patience, being conscious all the while. Mrs. Edwards was the fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Norton, who formerly came from Sherman, Tex. Her father preceded her to the other shore seven years ago. Ella received her education principally in the public schools of Texas and Arkansas. She was married to Preston Edwards Dec. 22, 1909 at Hiwasse, Benton county, Arkansas. To this union were born four children; two sons and two daughters: Kelson, Koyce, Opal and Estellena, three of whom survive. The youngest went to live with Jesus about a year ago. Mrs. Edwards united with the Missionary Baptist church in 1908 and was a consistent member until she was called up higher, her membership being at Mt. Pleasant, Benton Co., Ark. She was a kind wife and loving mother. Ella, hoping to regain her health, went west to Nyssa, Ore. but being disappointed, she hated to leave her dear cousins, Lee and Ruth Boyd, who had been so kind and sweet to her. Besides her own immediate family Mrs. Edwards leaves a mother, one brother and four sisters: W.A. Norton of McKeesport, Penn.; Mrs. Tippett of Neosho, Mo.; Mrs. F.M. Estes of Gainesville, Texas and Misses Helen and Gracie, who now reside at Sulphur Springs, Ark. The remains were laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Hiwasse, Ark., Rev. Sanders of Maysville conducting the funeral service. Contributed.
