Martha Lee Wilson Smith, 93 of Hurst, TX passed away Friday, February 24, 2012. She was born in Camden, AR on May 20, 1918 to the late Martha Catharine “Katie” Jeffus Wilson and Curtis Monroe Wilson. She lived in Hurst, TX since 1962. She was the oldest member and a lifelong supporter of Sulphur Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Martha Lee Smith was a rare treasure. Ninety-three years was not nearly long enough to behold her simple beauty. She loved the Lord faithfully and served Him humbly by caring for those blessed enough to be around her, day in and day out. As long as she was able, she read the entire Bible every year. Always taking a genuine interest in the lives of others, she made people feel special. She inquired, listened, prayed and gave. She was loyal and present, not distracted by lesser things. Martha was purposefully protective and pure at heart. To be loved by her was a priceless gift, and she will be missed immeasurably. She leaves a legacy of faith and integrity to her loved ones, generation upon generation. “Her children arise and call her blessed.” (Proverbs 31:28a) Surely the Lord’s countenance shines proudly over her, as certainly, she stands in the glory of His presence received with great pleasure and overwhelming affection, fully free and abounding in joy. What a precious, beloved, godly woman we have known. Thank You; thank You, oh Lord Jesus! (Written by Jennifer O’Dell Maddox.)
She was preceded in death by her husband whom she adored, Wesley Smith; three brothers, Ray Wilson, Frank Wilson and Hugh Wilson; and one sister, Aileen Wilson Parker.
Survivors include son, Delmar Smith and wife, Sue; grandchildren, Pamela Allen and companion, Donald Faulks, Jr, Dale Smith and wife, Carla, David Smith and companion, Shelly Madden, and Barry Smith and wife, Shantel; great grandchildren, Michael Allen, Stephanie Allen, Candice Smith, Jeffrey Smith, Wesley Smith and Zakkery DuBose; great-great grandchildren, Sarah Allen, Tyler Hall, Ethan Allen, Rylan Allen and Isabellea Smith; one brother, Jay Wilson and wife, Faye. She was a Nanny for two children whom she loved very much from shortly after birth to age 18, Jeff O’Dell and Jennifer O’Dell Maddox. She also has a host of other family members and friends.
