Samuel Marion Powell, 85, died at his home in Brentwood yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Mr. Powell was a farmer and had made his home in this community for the past 19 years.
He is survived by his wife, Maude; two sons, John Powell of Brentwood, and T.H. Powell of Saginaw, Mich.; one daughter, Mrs. Pearl Elson of Burt, Mich.; five brothers, John Dobson, Eugene and Talmage Powell of Lewisville, Texas, and Doc Powell of Carlton, Texas; four sisters, Mrs. Kate Parker of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Belle Robinson, Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Susie Massey, Lewisville, and Mrs. C.C. Parker, Justin, Texas; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Brentwood Church. Burial will he at the Brentwood cemetery under the direction of Moore's Funeral Chapel.

Lillie Maud Powell, 92, a resident of Brentwood for the past 30 years died this morning in a Springdale rest home. She was the widow of the late Sam M. Powell, born Aug. 9, 1871 near Rome, Ga. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, John W. of Winslow and T.H. of Rogers; eight grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Brentwood Community Church. Burial in the Brentwood Cemetery under direction of Moore's Chapel.
