POWELL, Samuel D. - {from The Fayetteville Review) Dr. Samuel D. Powell died Thursday at his home near Cincinnati where he has lived for nearly 50 years. He was 89 years old and had been married 66 years. His wife survives him and they were doubtless the oldest married couple in the state. Until a year or two ago Dr. Powell was unusually active for one of his age. He came to Arkansas from Tenn. and when a resident of the latter state was a friend of President Andrew Johnson and they worked at the tailor's trade together. He was extensively known throughout Northwest Arkansas and highly esteemed as a good man and valuable citizen. He leaves a large number of relatives who have the sympathy of the people in their bereavement.
