Perry Hershel Phillips, 72, of Rt. 3, El Dorado, died Monday in a local hospital following a lengthy illness. Born Feb. 18, 1898, in Conway, he was the son of Matthew and Jane Henderson Phillips. Mr. Phillips had been a resident of Union County for 26 years, moving here from Conway. He was a retired oil field worker. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Dovie Harkrider Phillips, of El Dorado; a son, Norman F. Phillips of Jacksonville; a niece, Mrs. Avery Marsee, Jr. of Searcy; a brother, Lewis Phillips of McNeil; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Freeman McMenis officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery under the direction of Young's.
