May 9, 1902 - December 2, 1969
Grady Pierce Phillips, 67, of Rt. 1, Smackover, died at his home Tuesday morning. Born May 9, 1903, in Bernice, La., he was the son of John E. and Alma Harper Phillips. He was a retired employe of Phillips Petroleum Co., in the well servicing department. He had been a resident of Smackover since 1925. He was a member of the Joyce City Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Jewell Porter Phillips of Smackover; four sons, Herbert G. Phillips, of Magnolia, James F. Phillips, Roy Phillips and Martin Phillips, all of Smackover; three daughters, Mrs. Bruce Teer of Minden, La., Mrs. O. L. Pearson, Jr., of Texarkana, Ark., and Mrs. Robert Nelson of El Dorado; a brother, Otha Phillips of Monroe, La.; two sisters, Miss Maude Phillips of Monroe and Mrs. P. E. Stewart of Sterlington, La.; 14 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Joyce City Baptist Church with the Rev. Ross Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young's. The body will be taken to the church at 9 a.m. Wednesday. (El Dorado Times - December 2, 1969)
