STROUD, Melinda MAXWELL - Mrs. Melinda Stroud, the mother of Wood Stroud, died on Monday evening at the home of the latter, just north of town. The funeral services were held at the home on Tuesday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. McGlumphy of the M.E. Church, South. The deceased was 69 years of age. The remains were interred in the Wood's cemetery. The deceased was mother of Mrs. J.M. Barrett of this city.

Melinda Maxwell Stroud was born in Tennessee November 8, 1830. She moved with her parents to Missouri in 1837. She was married to Thomas Stroud in 1846. She went with her family to Texas in 1858 and came to Arkansas in 1868, having resided here since. Her death occurred August 15, 1898 in the evening. She was the mother of eight children of whom two survive her, Mrs. John Barrett and Wood Stroud, both of Rogers. Mrs. Stroud was a member of the Methodist church for fifty years.
