Gabriel Lafayette Stroud
The funeral of G. L. Stroud was held at the Baptist Church in Bentonville on Friday afternoon, August 20 at 3 o'clock by Rev. M. L. Smith and Rev. Bradshaw. Interment was made in the Barron Cemetery near Vaughn.
Mr. Stroud was 71 years old, being born in Raleigh, N. C. on April 10, 1855 and died in Neosho, Mo. on August 19th, 1926. He was a prominent member and deacon of the Baptist Church; also was for many years a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He married Miss Martha Jane Stone of Dalton, Ga. in 1877. Their seven children are all living: Mrs. Nance, Resaca, Ga.; J. T. Stroud, Neosho, Mo.; W. L. Stroud, Tulsa, Ok.; Mrs. G. Wallace, Ferrell, Texas; Mrs. Maudie Johns, Watson, Ore.; Mrs. Edgar Fields and Y. T. Stroud, Bentonville.
Mrs. Stroud died on June 28, 1913 and in August 1920 Mr. Stroud married Mrs. Mattie Sing, who survives him. He also has six sisters living, Mrs. Woodruff amd Mrs. Baggett being present at the funeral. The Masonic order held a short service at the cemetery before interment.

G.L. Stroud
G. L. Stroud, a former well-known resident of Benton county, died at his home in Neosho, Mo. Thursday, August 19, 1926 at the age of 71 years. Death was due to typhoid fever which he contracted ten days before.
Gabriel Lafayette Stroud was born in Raleigh, N.C. April 10th, 1855. In 1877 he married Martha Jane Stone of Dalton, Ga. To this union were born seven children, all of whom are living. They are: Y. T. Stroud and Mrs. Edgar Fields of Bentonville, J.T. Stroud of Neosho, N.L. Stroud of Tulsa, Mrs. G. Wallace of Terrell, Texas, Mrs. Manda J. Watson of Vale, Oregon and Mrs. Nance of Resaca, Ga.
Mrs. Stroud passed away in 1913. Mr. Stroud married Mrs. Mattie Sing in 1920, who survives him. He is also survived by six sisters.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Bentonville Friday, August 20th, the Rev. Luther Smith and Rev. F. A. Bradshaw conducting the services. Interment was made in the Barron Cemetery near Vaughn. The Masonic order held a short service at the cemetery.
Mr. Stroud came to Benton county from Texas in 1905 and located six and one-half miles west of Bentonville on the farm now owned by Will Hedges. He has lived in Neosho since 1919. He was a prominent member of the Baptist church, joining it 50 years ago. He was also one of the oldest Masons in this section, being connected with the order for 18 years.
