Sherman R. Gabbard, 82, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2009 in Fayetteville. He was born February 3, 1927, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The son of Harrison and Ena (Klug) Gabbard. He was a WWII Veteran of the United States Army; he was retired from the Fayetteville School District at Happy Hollow Schools, enjoyed Car Racing, Sports and being with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife; Geraldine Welkley Gabbard of Fayetteville, Arkansas, two sons; Darrell Gabbard of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Bruce Gabbard of Folly Beach, South Carolina, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 8, 2009, in the Chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home, with Pastor Jasper Hankins officiating. Burial will follow in Stuckey Cemetery in Johnson, AR. Honorary Pallbearers will be; Peter Perry, Jimmy Perry, Larry Brooks, Ronnie Reynolds, Jeremy Gabbard and Jason Gabbard.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM, Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ruby Gabbard, 46 of Fayetteville died Wednesday in a local hospital. Born Sept. 11, 1930 in St. Paul, the daughter of William and Nora Jane Bryant Johnson, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Sherman Gabbard of the home; two sons, Darrell of Joplin and Bruce of Fayetteville; two brothers, Ernest and Sid Johnson, both of Fayetteville; seven sisters, Mrs. Ralph Selo of Neosho, Mrs. Martha Hopper of Grovetown, Ga., Mrs. Minnie Balt of Republic, Wash., Mrs. Opal Gage of Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Hazel Clark, Mrs. Edna Stillwell and Mrs. Ola Mae Clark, all at Fayetteville.

Funeral service will be a 11 a.m. Saturday, in the chapel of Nelson's Funeral home with burial in Stuckey Cemetery.
