FAYETTEVILLE - (Myrtle) Marie Gabbard was born Jan. 22, 1929, and passed away June 23, 2017, at Washington Regional Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Edward Gabbard and Ida Belle Gabbard; two brothers, William Harvey Gabbard and James Henry Gabbard; and one sister, Ocie Gabbard Schneeberger.
Marie was a lifelong resident of Arkansas. Early childhood was in St. Paul, Ark., and then Fayetteville, Ark., for her remaining years.
She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and while still able, attended University Baptist Church in Fayetteville. She worked for the Orthopedic Clinic and Washington Regional Medical Center from which she retired.
Marie is survived by one sister, Bonnie A. Bigger of Fayetteville, Ark.; six nephews; two nieces; and numerous grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff, 4 South Med/ Surg Unit at Washington Regional Medical Center for their professional yet caring attendance to Marie. Special thanks also to the Phil Shepherd and Joan Hayes families for going the extra mile as neighbors over the years.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017, at Mt. Comfort Presbyterian Church, 3816 W Mt. Comfort Road, Fayetteville, Ark. 72704 (adjacent to the cemetery).
