FAYETTEVILLE — Dwight Thomas Walker, 68, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, in Fayetteville after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born Dec. 29, 1943, in Joplin, Mo., to Raymond and Cella Mae (Wilkinson) Walker.

Dwight held to a high work ethic with values based on hard work and diligence. From his teenage years until retirement in 2006, he was never without a job.

He was employed as a service technician from 1975 to 1980 at Dan Stanley Ford in Joplin, Mo. In 1978 at the Ford "National Hands On Contest," he received an award which ranked him among the top 4 percent of the service technicians across the country. From 1980 until 2006, he was plant manager at Light & Sight in Springdale.

He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed woodworking. He was a good neighbor, mowing yards, picking up trash containers from the curbs, and lending a hand and tools with odd jobs.

He was a member of Christian Life Cathedral in Fayetteville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two infant sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; two sons, Doug Walker of Cordova, Tenn., Brad Walker of Siloam Springs, Ark.; two brothers, Paul Walker and wife, Maggie, of Virginia, Mickey Walker of Kansas; stepchildren, Matt Eilers and wife, Marcela, of Texas, Shelly Spencer and husband, Donnie, of Bentonville, Ark., Tim Eilers and wife, Juanita, of Texas; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 27, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, in the chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Dixon and Pastor Mark Clinard officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
