MITCHELL, Chesley Jasper - Chesley Jasper Mitchell died Nov. 18th from a heart attack which he suffered about three hours before he died. Funeral services were held for him Sunday afternoon at the Primitive Baptist church at 2:30 o'clock, Elders Chriss and Koons of Little Flock conducting the same. Burial took place in Snoderly cemetery. He was born near Nashville, Tenn. Dec. 5th, 1853 and moved with his parents to Missouri in 1856. From there the family moved to Texas for a short while. They came to Benton County while he was still a boy and he has spent most of his life in the community south of Garfield. He married Emmaline Easley Sept. 23, 1875 and to this union were born 11 children, two having preceded him in death. Mr. Mitchell joined the Primitive Baptist Church in 1894. He was an active man in politics and took interest in county, state and national affairs. He was a loving father, a highly respected citizen having a host of friends. Besides his wife, surviving are: Owen V. Mitchell of Bestwater; J. Chesley Mitchell of Garfield; Mrs. Ella Douglas of Maysville; Isaac N. Mitchell of the home; Mrs. Mattie Byler of Coffeyville, Kansas; Mrs. Dollie Wyatt of Valiant, Okla.; Mrs. Mary Sinclair and Roy Mitchell of Oklahoma City, all of whom were present at the funeral excepting Frank Mitchell, who lives at St. Mary's, Idaho. Twenty-two grandchildren survive as well as other relatives.
