MITCHELL, Milton Edward - Funeral services for M.E. Mitchell, 53, of Tulsa, Okla. He was drowned Sunday in Grand river near Ft. Gibson, Okla. in an effort to save a young girl from drowning, were held Tuesday afternoon at Buttram's chapel. Funeral arrangements were in charge of A.D. Callison. Mr. Mitchell was a member of a fishing party and lost his life while endeavoring to save a girl member of a swimming party who had gotten into deep water. The girl was saved but first reports received here said she also lost her life. Mr. Mitchell formerly lived in Rogers but moved to Tulsa about seven years ago. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hattie Mitchell, and a son, Cloe Mitchell, of Rogers, and one brother, Charles B. Mitchell of Atchinson, Kans.

Milton Edward Mitchell, born Nov. 27, 1876 near Pea Ridge, Ark., in which community he grew to manhood, was the second son of Dr. Roland and Mary Mitchell. On Feb. 26, 1899 he was married to Hattie Mae Lines. Two children were born to this union, Cloe and Lena, all of whom remain to mourn at his untimely passing. He attended dental college in Kansas City where he graduated in 1898 and practiced the profession of dental surgery for about 18 years. He was converted and joined the Baptist church at Twelve Corners when about 18 years of age. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Masonic lodge at Pea Ridge, Ark. Mr. Mitchell departed this life July 6, 1930 near Fort Gibson, Okla. in the turbulent waters of Grand river at the age of 53 years, 7 months and 9 days. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at Buttram's Chapel by Rev. L.B. Trone, pastor of the Methodist church, Depew, Okla. with interment in the Buttram's Chapel cemetery.
