ROGERS — Andrew E. Mitchell Jr., 82, of Rogers died Feb. 22. 2002. He was born Oct. 20, 1919, in Rogers to Minnie Lou and Andrew E. Mitchell Sr. He was a Rogers High School graduate, and he earned a business degree from the University of Arkansas, where he earned letters in football and basktball. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the 401st Glider Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne, landing at Utah Beach on D-Day, and he was also at the Battle of the Bulge. He earned the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He managed Mitchell Lumber Co. in Bentonville and Rogers with his family and retired from the lumber business in 1981.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Renfro Mitchell, to whom be was married 60 years; one son, Lynn Riley Mitchell of Mandeville, La.; two daughters, Patricia Saunders of Snohomish, Wash., and Andra Mitchell of San Francisco, Calif.; four grandchildrem one greet-grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Rogers. Cremation was by Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.
