James Patton Taylor died at the home of his parents near Garfield on Friday afternoon following an illness of 4 months of influenza and complications. Mr. Taylor was the son of Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Taylor, well known Garfield residents, and was 21 years of age. He suffered about a nine months illness with all human patience, resigned to his fate and expressed many times in the last hours of his life that he appreciated what had been done for him by all helping hands and that he was ready and willing to go. Patton was a boy who respected and honored his parents, always looking with interest to their needs and freely gave the major portion of his earnings to the family budget. He spent his early childhood here where he attended the public high schools at Providence and Garfield. He was an apt student and a likeable boy among his teachers and school mates. In January 1929 he secured work with the Nicholson Clock Co. where he was employed until September 1932, holding a position as an expert in his line of work and was promoted to foremanship the day before he was injured. The pallbearers were six cousins: Ray, Fay and Coin Taylor, Benton Sims, Kendall Taylor of Bartlesville, Okla. and Carl Patton. Services were conducted by Elder O’Dell of Centralia, Okla. and G.W. Williams, and singing by a Pea Ridge quartet. Many beautiful floral offerings and one from the Nicholson Co. of Tulsa, Okla. He was laid to rest in the Buttram Chapel Saturday evening at 3:30 p.m. He leaves his loving parents, two brothers, Bryan and Elwood, and little sister, Lilly Mae, his grandmother, Harriett Patton, whom he loved dearly. The family has the sympathy of the entire neighborhood.
