Rogers CofC official, Lew Taylor, 47, dies
Lewis W. "Lew" Taylor, 47, executive vice president of the Rogers Chamber of Commerce, died Thursday evening at the Rogers Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 14, 1927, in Kansas City, Mo.
In addition to his Chamber of Commerce experience in Rogers, Mr. Taylor had served as executive secretary for the National Ski Association, Denver, Colo., and was a department manager at the National Headquarters of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Tulsa, Okla.
He also served the Chamber of Commerce offices in Terre Haute, Ind., Bloomington, Ill., and Casper, Wyo.
He had been a manager and writer with Sub-Contractor Firms for Technical Publications for Aero-Space Industries in Denver, Colo., and had been on the public relations and promotion staff of the Institute of Logopedics at the University of Wichita, Kan. He was also a technical writer for Beech Aircraft Corporation and Boeing Aircraft Corporation in Wichita, Kan.
He majored in English and journalism at Wichita State University, and worked with daily newspapers in Wichita, Kan., and El Paso, Tex.
He was an elder and chairman of the Administration Committee of the Session at the Presbyterian Church in Rogers, and was a member of the Rogers Rotary Club.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jane Taylor, of the home; one son, Alex Taylor, Phoenix, Ariz.; three daughters, Mrs. Laura Walsh, Conway and Susan Taylor and Julia Taylor both of the home; his mother, Mrs. Helen Taylor, Wichita, Kan.; two brothers, Jess Taylor, Topeka, Kan. and Bob Taylor, Wichita, Kan.; and one sister, Mrs. Charlana Cook, Kansas City, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Presbyterian Church in Rogers with Dr. William Rail officiating.

Closing of businesses set Monday
Most Rogers businesses will be closed between 10 and 11 a.m. Monday during the funeral of Lewis W. "Lew" Taylor, executive vice president, who died Thursday evening.
The Daily-Sunday News will join with other members of the Retail Trade Development Committee of the Chamber of Commerce in closing.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. William Rail officiating. Burial will be in Rogers Cemetery, under the direction of Callison Funeral Home of Rogers.
Those wishing may contribute to the Heart Fund or the Memorial Fund at the First Presbyterian Church.
