Entered this life July 24th, 1884. Entered into eternal life August 8th, 1925, Franklin Pierce Patton, son of James M. Patton, deceased, and Harriet Patton. Husband of Dennie Shepherd Patton. Father of Gladys, Mildred, Jewell and Ruth. His marriage occurred November 24th, 1909. Mr. Patton entered Sunday school as a small boy and in early youth was converted and united with the M.E. Church, South at Buttram’s Chapel. From that time on he was noted for his piety, his activity in Sunday school work and his interest in the religious welfare of his community. He served his church as steward for fifteen years or more and during that period he also served in the Sunday school as superintendent, choir leader, faithful and efficient teacher of the Men’s Bible class. Aside from his church activities Mr. Patton was a successful farmer and public school teacher and as such was highly esteemed by his pupils. Besides his wife, daughters and mother he leaves two brothers, Thomas and Boyd Patton, three sisters, Mrs. Z.B. Sims, Mrs. Harry Rice and Mrs. Henry Taylor, and other relatives to mourn his loss. Funeral services were conducted at Buttram’s Chapel by Rev. W.T. Bone, his pastor, and Rev. Wilcoxon of Rogers Central Methodist Church, South in the presence of a large concourse of relatives and friends who gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to one whom they loved.

Frank Patton, a well-known resident on Pea Ridge, died at his home near Elkhorn Tavern on Saturday, August 8th, 1925 following an illness of about six months. Death was due to tuberculosis. He was about 40 years of age. Funeral services, which were held Sunday at Buttram’s Chapel, was one of the largest ever held there. Rev. Bone, assisted by Rev. Crichlow of Rogers, conducted the services. Besides his widow he leaves four daughters, the eldest of whom is sixteen, and a large number of relatives and friends to mourn his death. Mr. Patton was born on the old Patton homestead near his present home about 40 years ago. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.N. Patton and had spent practically his entire life in that neighborhood. He was a member of the M.E. Church and for fifteen years faithfully acted as superintendent of the Sunday school at Central. He was also a justice of the peace and a school director. He was a broad-minded man and a friend and worker for better schools and communities.

(from Walnut Grove) Miss Anna Patton and her brother, Ernest Patton, and his family attended the funeral of Mr. Patton’s cousin, Frank Patton, at Buttram’s Chapel Sunday afternoon.
