*Obituary (as written)
October 20, 1904
Nannie Paton was born July 21, 1878, died Oct. 15, 1904. Was led to Christ under the preaching of Rev. E. Buttram in 1893 and at once joined the M.E. Church south and lived a devoted christian up to the time that God called for her and she answered to the call. She was always a sweet, truthful, happy christian. Her life was a blessing to all with whom she has been associated. She had no fear of death and said to her loved ones, don’t weep for me, I will soon be with Uncle John and Grandma. She passed away as to a quiet sleep and dreams of joy, while on her home falls a shadow that will linger till Jesus shall shine it away. Her funeral was held in Buttram Chapel where she was brought to Christ amidst a very large congregation of friends. She was laid to rest in the Buttram Chapel cemetery. Her funeral was conducted by her pastor, assisted by F.S.H. Johnston, E. Buttram and J.H. Winton. H.A. Armstrong.
