LITTLE ROCK — Randy Jeffery, 51, of Little Rock died Monday, March 29, 2010.
He was a graduate of Melbourne High School and graduated cum laude in 1980 from Lyon College in Batesville with a bachelor of arts in history with an emphasis in historic preservation.
While a student at Lyon College, he was one of 10 youths throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda selected to participate in an internship at Historic Deerfield in Deerfield, Mass., in historic preservation.
He held a degree in interior design with an emphasis on architectural design from El Centro College in Dallas.
He was with the Capital Zoning District Commission for 10 years, serving as deputy director for planning and preservation from 2000 to 2001 and as director for the past nine years. He worked for the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program for 10 years before joining the CZDC.
He enjoyed cooking, gardening and being a designer.
Survivors include his father, Lloyd Jeffery of Melbourne; a sister, Renee Smith of Hot Springs; a nephew, Joe Beary of Batesville; a niece, Tara Spangler of Melbourne; and a great-niece, Robbie Spangler of Melbourne.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Robbie Jeffery; his grandparents, Johnny and Nora Jeffery and Shorty and Delphia Campbell; an uncle, Weldon Campbell; and a great-uncle, Gus Campbell.
