HENRY, Ethel Marie HOWARD - Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Howard Henry, wife of Dr. Richard T. Henry, whose death occurred suddenly at Springdale about 11 o'clock Friday morning, December 13th, 1929, were held at the Bentonville Presbyterian Church Saturday afternoon and interment made at the Bentonville cemetery. The services were conducted by the pastor, the Rev. A.W. Henderson, assisted by Rev. R.S. Hayden, pastor of the Bentonville M.E. Church, South and by the Rev. C.H. Sherman and Rev. A.D. Stewart of Springdale. The many friends attending the services at the Bentonville church and cemetery included a large number from Springdale as well as from Bentonville and vicinity. Physicians and surgeons of Washington and Benton Counties attended the funeral in a body. Services also had been held at Springdale before the funeral party came to Bentonville. Miss Ethel Marie Howard, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Howard, was born at the family home near Bentonville on March 14th, 1884. She was reared in and near Bentonville. As a child she attended the neighborhood school and later the Bentonville schools. For some years before her marriage she was employed at the store of the Jackson Dry Goods Company, of which her brother, John B. Howard, was at that time manager and through her work there, her personality and always likeable disposition, she formed in this county a wide circle of friends who learned of her death with sincere regret. On September 13th, 1912 she was married here at Bentonville to Dr. Richard T. Henry, who had recently begun his practice here as physician and surgeon. About 15 years ago they moved to Springdale and they and their children have in the years since become a very vital part of that community. Her unexpected death came suddenly from apoplexy or a heart attack while at the home of a neighbor across the street where she had gone to render a neighborly service in the illness of Mrs. Raymond Graham who was formerly Miss Helen Strode of Bentonville. It is understood that Mrs. Henry had not been entirely well for some months but her condition had not been considered as immediately serious. Besides her husband and three children: Howard, 17; Cornelia, 15 and Richard, aged 12, Mrs. Henry is survived by her mother, Mrs. W.J. Howard; one brother, John B. Howard and two sisters, Mrs. Louis Robbins and Mrs. Berry Smartt, all of Bentonville, and a number of other relatives. Her father died here several years ago. Both the Henry and Howard families are among the old and widely known families of this section.
