HENRY, Sidney GATLIN, Mrs. - Mrs. Sidney Gatlin Henry, widow of the late Dr. James Taylor Henry, died at her home here early Saturday morning. Though Mrs. Henry has been seriously ill for a month her condition had so greatly improved that her family and friends were hopeful of her recovery and her death, which took place a few hours after a stroke of apoplexy, was a shock to the entire community. Mrs. Henry was born near Lisbon, in Union county, August 20th, 1852 and spent her entire life in Arkansas. Her family, and that of her husband to whom she was married in 1874, were pioneers in South Arkansas and were identified with the early history and development of the state, both families being splendid representatives of the ideals and culture of the Southern plantation. Dr. Henry was one of the state's leading physicians and his large property interests and success in business in many lines gave him high standing in the business circles of his section. Mrs. Henry was loved wherever she was known and during the past few weeks friends in all parts of the state have shared in the anxiety of her loved ones gathered at her bedside. The family came to Bentonville fourteen years ago, moving here from Eagle Mills for the benefit of Mrs. Henry's health, and at once became identified with the life of this community. She is survived by one son, Dr. Hugh Henry, of Eagle Mills; by five daughters: Mrs. O.F. Wyman of Trout, La.; Mrs. W.A. Utley of Benton; Mrs. Henry D. Wharton of Warren and the Misses Pearl and Beryl Henry of Bentonville; and by five grandchildren, Hugh and Marjorie Wyman, Miss Elizabeth and James Henry and Sidney Wharton. All were present at her funeral as were Mrs. Hugh Henry and Messrs. Wyman, Utley and Wharton. A sister, Mrs. W.A. Elliott, of Fordyce, and two nieces, Mrs. T.W. Juniel of Mansfield, La. and Mrs. C.W. Watson of Russellville, also came to be with the family. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church, South Sunday afternoon by the Rev. Lester Weaver, assisted by the Rev. F.N. Brewer of Benton. At the close of Rev. Brewer's eulogy he made a special prayer for the comfort of Miss Pearl Henry, who has been privileged to be so closely associated with her mother since her father's death six years ago and who has cared for her mother with such devotion and tenderness. After the service the body was taken to the Bentonville cemetery and placed beside that of Dr. Henry in the mausoleum. R.D.B.
