HENRY, Sue Dickenson - Death has again spread his sable pinions over our city and taken away a fair young daughter just entering the portals of womanhood. Surprise and sorrow reigned in many hearts Saturday, Nov. 17, 1894 when the wire brought word that Miss Sue Dickenson Henry had died that day at the home of her uncle, John Ruckman, at Helena, Texas. Only a few short weeks since "Dick," as she was familiarly known to our town people, accompanied her mother to Texas, hoping that a change would be beneficial to her as she had been in ill health for several months. But it seemed that the hand of the Destroyer had already marked her for his own and it seemed that the change only hastened the end. Miss Dick was the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N.S. Henry and was just entering her eighteenth year. She was a sympathetic, generous, loving girl and her affection was returned by a large number of companions and schoolmates, as well as by many of the older people of our city who had known her all her bright young life and who deeply regret to see her taken from our midst just as the bright future of a useful womanhood was opening up before her. To her sorrowing parents and sisters and brothers the hearts of our entire community go out in sympathy in this hour of great bereavement. To her young companions comes the reminder that in the midst of life is death and that the old must die and the young may die. Dick will be missed from her accustomed place at the fireside of a pleasant home, from the schoolroom, the Sunday school and the young society circle of which she was one of the brightest members. The remains arrived in this city Tuesday morning and funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church at 10 o'clock a.m. by Rev. D.C. Boggs, pastor, after which all that remained of this dear young daughter was laid to rest in our beautiful cemetery.
