Iva Kate Swan, 77, of Hamburg died Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at her residence. A native of Ashley County and a resident of the Pine Hill community outside Hamburg all her life, she was a homemaker and an active member of the Trinity Free Will Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Susan Kay Swan of Baton Rouge, LA; a daughter-in-law, Kathryn Swan Box of Hamburg; and a grandson, Jason Lovett of Longview, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley Swan, in 2000; a son, Charles "Buster" Swan in 1995; a daughter, Cathy Swan, in 1953; her parents, Louis & Lula Kate Coulter Norrell; four brothers, Charlie, Billy and Bud Wayne Norrell and Harvey Poe; and two sisters, Louise Swan & Evelyn Johnson. Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Friday, January 18, in the Trinity Free Will Baptist Church with Revs. Brent Hutsell and Mike Griffith officiating. Burial followed at the Carlock Cemetery. Pallbearers were Johnny Swan, Billy Mark Swan, Shane Carpenter, Billy Norrell, Dale Norrell, Earl Johnson, Gary Johnson, Mike Johnson and Kenny Johnson. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Christian Academy, 803 Ashley 95 Road, Hamburg, AR 71646. Funeral arrangements were by Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.
